The main points on the agenda were the following: · Declaration of the Commission White Paper on European “Governance”; · Discussion and vote on the Communication of the Commission to the Council and to the European Parliament: “Towards a common procedure on asylum and a uniform status valid throughout the Union for persons who have been recognized the right of asylum” (Rapporteur, Evans Robert); · Discussion and vote on the report relating to the Communication of the Commission to the Council and to the European Parliament: “EU policy on immigration” (Rapporteur, Mr. Pirker); · Declarations of the Council and of the Commission Preparatory work for the forthcoming European Council in Ghent and Conclusions of the UN Conference on Racism; · Discussion and vote on the report relating to the Communication of the Commission to the Council and to the European Parliament: “The contribution of public finances to growth and employment: improving quality and sustainability” (Rapporteur, Mr. Peijs); · Discussion and vote on the report relating to the Communications of the Commission to the Council and to the European Parliament: “Accelerated action to combat the main transmittable diseases in the framework of the reduction of poverty” and “The programme of action: accelerated action to combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis in the framework of the reduction of poverty” (Rapporteur, Mr. Khanbhai).
