The European Parliament has expressed its condolences to the Italian government following the gas explosion that ripped apart an apartment block in Rome and caused the death of seven people, and left many injured and hundreds homeless. “I express to you and to the families of the victims wrote the president of the European Parliament, Nicole Fontaine, in a telegram sent to the Minister of the Interior, Claudio Scajola my deepest condolence for the grave explosion that cost the life of seven persons and caused numerous injuries. I wish in particular to pay homage continues the president of the EP to the courage of the fire-fighters who, in the attempt to save other lives, sacrificed their own in a gesture of heroic abnegation”.
