Croatia: Zagreb remembers Cardinal Šeper” “

Twenty years have gone by since the death of Cardinal Franjo Šeper, archbishop of Zagreb, president of the Episcopal Conference of Yugoslavia and first prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. He died in Rome on 30 December 1981 and in the homily pronounced at his requiem mass, John Paul II thanked him for the “tireless service” he had given to the Church. To mark the twentieth anniversary of his death, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and the archdiocese of Zagreb has promoted a symposium on his life and work. The first part was held in Zagreb on 7 and 8 November; the participants included Card. Joseph Ratzinger and Msgr. Tarcisio Bertone. The second part is scheduled to be held in the Vatican on 29 and 30 November.
