Advertisements on the three channels of RAI (the Italian state broadcaster), promotional stands in the main Italian cities and special strips worn by footballers at the Italian Cup football final: just some of the initiatives promoted in recent months by the Forum of family associations to sponsor the Campaign “Family for Family”, a campaign to enable Italian families to express solidarity with the families of the East. A 100 development projects will be supported by the campaign, and there are 17 beneficiary countries: thanks to the funds collected, nine non-governmental organizations will see to the realization of 10 family advice centres, 25 welfare centres for the family, 46 micro-businesses, 2 day clinics, 7 vocational training centres, 2 family homes and 8 day centres. It is predicted that over 150,000 people will as a whole benefit from the projects. “The objective campaign managers explained, in preparation for International Family Day (15 May) is to create a bridge with the families of the countries of the East, and restore to them the means with which to build their own future”. The Family for Family projects aim at implementing plans of economic support and neasures to curb emigration, as well as projects in favour of juveniles, courses of vocational training for young mothers and programmes aimed at getting people back into work.
