Some 120 choirs and musical groups from all the Swiss churches will meet at the Choir Festival at Morat (Fribourg) on Sunday 19 May. The festival is one of the most eagerly awaited events of Expo.02, which is expected to be attended by some 80,000 visitors. The choirs comprise a total of 4,300 singers and musicians and are the expression of different cultural traditions: there will be a choir of Benedictine monks, a group of disabled young musicians, fanfares of the Salvation Army and a Russian choir that will present a liturgical repertoire. At the end of the day, all the participants will congregate at Yverdon and at Bienne for vespers, in which various Church leaders will also participate.
