COMECE: "summer university" in Slovenia” “

The fourth session of the summer university organised by COMECE (Commission of Episcopates of the European Community) will take place at Celjie in Slovenia from 7 to 11 September. Taking part will be a young delegate from each of the Episcopal Conferences of the European Union and the countries of expansion. “Boundaries” is the theme chosen for this year: “Marking boundaries, crossing boundaries and peaceful coexistence: a challenge for the Catholic Church in Europe:, this is the guideline for the work that will be undertaken by professors and experts on European issues. “The process of integration”, the organisers explain, “is bringing Europe and its inhabitants ever closer together. Boundaries between member States are losing their meaning. It seems almost as if Europe is losing her internal confines”. However, at the same time, “many people are expressing the desire for a greater sense of belonging, of identity, of well defined boundaries”. Questions are being asked as to “what contribution the Church can make to this Europe without boundaries”.¤
