“Religious freedom: the relations of the majority and minority churches with the State”: that’s the theme at the centre of a consultation being held in Vienna from 6 to 10 November. Promoted by the Conference of the Churches of Europe (KEK), the meeting, with the help of experts and members of the Churches, will analyze the various situations in Europe: Austria, Russia, France and the countries of Northern Europe. “Religious freedom declares a communiqué put out by KEK is and remains an important factor for the human rights agenda in Europe”. The consultation will also examine the new challenges emerging both in the East after the collapse of Communism and in the West with the birth of the “new religious movements”.
