Representatives of various Christian organizations operating at the side of women victims of prostitution in Europe met in Germany from 26 February to 2 March at the invitation of the KEK’s Commission for Migrants in Europe (CCME) and Caritas Europe, which together have launched a joint project (called CAT) to relieve this problem. During the meeting, the participants (from the Czech Republic, France, Greece, Italy and Romania) were able to visit two projects for the assistance of the victims of the white slave trade in Essen and Dortmund, and also met with representatives of the security forces. The Churches emphasized the importance of creating “a relation of cooperation and trust between the centres of assistance and the police” and heightening awareness also among the customers of prostitutes.
