Belgium: 2004 dedicated to evangelization” “

“Sent to evangelize”: is the theme of the pastoral year 2003-2004 announced in recent days by the Belgian Episcopal Conference. It is the follow up to the pastoral year in course: “Sent to serve”, devoted to the service that Christians are called to give to the world. “How can we proclaim Christ to the world, without denying our own identity and without succumbing to intolerance and proselytism?” To respond to this question and thus arrive better prepared for the new pastoral year, the Belgian episcopate has addressed a letter to all the faithful and to their communities. “The letter – explains the Belgian Episcopal Conference – is divided into three parts. The first tries to analyse the sense and the significance of proclaiming Christ in Western society whose lifestyle represents a challenge for the Church and for Christianity as a whole. The second part focuses on the content of evangelization and on the message that the Church wants to bring to the world. The third and last part tackles evangelization and the ways in which it should be carried out. How can the Gospel be proclaimed in such a way that it touch the heart of man in our time? Above all by rediscovering the richness of the Gospel in our lives”. The letter is already available on the website www.catho.be with information on the various diocesan projects dedicated to evangelization.
