For the occasion of the Pope’s forthcoming visit to Croatia (5-9 June) and Bosnia (22 June), Croatian Caritas and Croatian Catholic radio, in collaboration with the Radio Maria Association, have planned a prayer chain and fund collecting. The initiative, known as PET (“Pope, ecumenism and tolerance”), involves five weeks of uninterrupted prayer and the collection of funds to be given to the poor of the region. Individuals, parishes and families as well as numerous movements and associations are all participating in the prayer chain, which began at midday on 25 May and will end at midnight on 29 June. They take turns to prayer in one-and-a-half-hour shifts, in accordance with an agreed timetable. Many sectors of the ecclesial media have been mobilised to encourage more people to participate in the initiative and the news is repeated daily through various channels.
