What can be done to ensure that vocations to the consecrated or priestly life become a concern for everyone in the Church? What elements must be included in ordinary pastoral care today to help young people hear the call of God? These are the questions facing the annual meeting of the European Vocations Service (EVS), to be held in Warsaw from 2 to 6 July. The meeting will be attended by national delegates of European vocational offices and centres, and by bishops responsible for vocational pastoral care in the various episcopal conferences. “The integration of a renewed pastoral care of vocations in the structures of ordinary pastoral care” is the theme of the gathering which has been promoted by Msgr. Alois Kothgasser, archbishop of Salzburg and delegate for vocations of the Council of European Episcopal Conferences (Ccee), and by Reiner Birkenmeier, the EVS co-ordinator. Among the participants will be Cardinal Jozef Glemp, archbishop of Warsaw, and Cardinal Zenon Grocholewski, prefect of the Congregation for Catholic Education.
