"Young" religious at Angers” “” “

300 “young” religious representing confreres and consoeurs with less than ten years of final profession met in Angers, in northwestern France, in recent days to reflect on their vows. “Pragmatic and realistic”: that’s how Father Luc Crépy, president of the Conference of superiors major of France, described the participants in the meeting who have “accepted the call of the Spirit” and have made an effort to combine it “with the needs of our times”. New technologies and means of communication, young generations, ecumenism and interreligious dialogue: these were the most debated themes, “for which the Church hopes for an indispensable synergy between the various vocations”, notes Father Crépy. The young religious ask for “greater collaboration between the various congregations on well-defined projects” and “a better coordination between religious life and diocesan life”, though with the maintenance of the specific identity of each.
