The autumn plenary assembly of the German Episcopal Conference is due to open in Fulda on Monday, 22 September. 68 bishops from 27 German dioceses will take part in the meeting, which will continue till 25 September. Card. Karl Lehmann will present an opening report on “Cohesion and justice, solidarity and responsibility between the generations: anthropological and theological implications of the current debate on social systems”. The German bishops will dedicate a whole day to studies on Europe and in particular on the question of the process of integration and the European Constitution. Other issues on the agenda are a pronouncement by the bishops on the liturgy, a document on “Christians and Moslems in Germany” and a set of guidelines for the reconversion of churches.
