Anti-Semitism: new report

The EU Centre for monitoring racism and xenophobia (EUMC) has announced the publication of the draft of the controversial “Report on anti-Semitism in Europe”, “censured” by the Centre itself two weeks ago because considered “unreliable”, but nonetheless published on various Internet sites in recent days. The EUMC in Vienna had been severely criticised for its decision, which some alleged has been dictated by reasons of political opportunism in view of the passages in the Report that reveal pockets of anti-Semitism within the Moslem communities in Europe. The Vienna watchdog is planning to commission a new Report shortly, to become available by April 2004. For further information: www.eumc.eu.int
