The “Inter-Anglican Commission for Ecumenical Relations” met in Florida (USA) from 29 November to 5 December. In a special resolution, the members of the Commission have expressed “profound regret for the repercussions on international ecumenical dialogue caused by the consecration in the Episcopalian Church of a bishop involved in a homosexual relationship”. In particular, says the resolution, they regret the declaration of the Russian Orthodox Church issued immediately after the consecration of Bishop Robinson and the consequences that the decision of the American Church has caused in the Anglican-Catholic Commission for Unity and Mission (IARCCUM), which has suspended its work (cf. SIR 76/2003). The Anglican Commission for Ecumenical Relations approves the decision of the archbishop of Canterbury to establish a commission with the task of studying the question and working for unity. “It will be the task of the Commission says the resolution to find ways for maintaining common faith and for practicing it in such a way that international ecumenical dialogue may proceed with confidence in future”.
