The website of the Catholic Church speaks Italian” “

The religious information site www.catholica.ro launched an Italian-language version on 24 January: www.it.catholica.ro. The site Catholica.ro is a project approved and supported by the Romanian Episcopal Conference which has, over the last two years, provided information on the life of the local and universal Church, documents of the Catholic magisterium, photos, etc. After two years of activity, the website Catholica.ro has become the main source of religious information for the Catholic and lay media in Romania. It especially includes news about the local Catholic Church – both of Latin and Byzantine rite – but also has a strong ecumenical and socio-cultural character. The site also provides a photographic service and a library with documents concerning the local Church. News is published in real time and those who wish to do so can subscribe to a free weekly news service via e-mail, comprising the main stories of the week. Another free service provided to subscribers is CSIT, a special Italian-language edition that will be sent to subscribers periodically and include detailed information on the most important events in the life of the Romanian Church. “The site – explain its editors – provides an opportunity to bring to the attention of the Catholic world, and not only to it, the concerns, achievements, hopes and sorrows of the Catholic Church in Romania and its people”.
