Public television has its own department for religious programmes; 2% of entire programming is dedicated to religious transmissions. 5-6 Masses on major feast days also broadcast live, plus transmissions of Urbi et Orbi and the Via Crucis from Rome. The Bishops’ Conference also possesses its own TV studio, LUX Communication, which produces programmes for public TV, videocasettes, CDs, youth programme (UM), and ALFA documentaries on leading Christian personalities. In Slovakia 21 publishing houses have been established since 1989; of these at least four are of national importance.
