Russia: religions for peace” “

The second Interreligious Forum for peace took place in Moscow on 23 March, with the participation of representatives of the Christian, Moslem, Jewish and Buddhist religions. The Forum ended with the signing of a final declaration, in which the religious leaders pledge to promote joint actions of peace in all the places of the world in which their peoples are involved in situations of conflict and tension. “We testify – says the declaration – that genuine believers never embark on actions of terror. We are convinced that anyone who deliberately becomes a terrorist immediately renounces his faith”. The religious representatives at the Moscow Forum pledge to “make every possible effort to curb the strategy of terror and the blasphemous use of religious symbols made by terrorists” and to offer “assistance and support to governments to combat this evil”.
