Lisbon: training of catechists ‘on line'” “

“Faz-te ao largo” (Do it yourself writ big) is the name of the internet site (www.faz-teaolargo.com) that the catechetical Office of the Patriarchate of Lisbon inaugurated on Easter Sunday, 11 April. The aim of the project, whose preparation has taken two years, is that of helping in the training of diocesan catechists, promoting the activities of the church of Lisbon and providing a forum for all those who work in the field of evangelization with children, youth and adults. The website presents an agenda of courses, meetings and seminars on catechesis and the life of the Patriarchate of Lisbon, the documents of Portuguese bishops and texts with reflections for the Sunday liturgy. “The new technologies – declared the delegates of the Office – are a way of bringing pastoral workers closer together and a privileged means of fostering the formation of catechists, especially the younger ones. In a city like Lisbon where there are over 7500 catechists and some 80,000 children, the difficulties of communication and formation are constant”.
