Germany: meeting on ‘conversion'” “

“Live your vocation”: that’s the slogan of the congress being organized by the Forum Deutscher Katholiken (forum of German Catholics), due to be held in Regensburg, in Germany, from 14 to 16 May. Its aim, in the words of the president of the Forum, Hubert Gindert, is to “encourage the participants to personal conversion and to spiritual renewal, while reinforcing them in their obedience and fidelity to the Holy Father and the bishops”. It is in this sense that the title of the meetings, of which the previous ones were held in Fulda, is “Joy of the faith”. The congress will open on Friday, 14 May with a eucharistic celebration officiated by Bishop Gerhard Ludwig Müller of Regensburg, and concelebrated by Bishop Frantisek Radkovsky of Plzn (Czech Republic). The speakers, including personalities from the scientific, cultural, ecclesiastical and political worlds, will tackle the theme of personal vocation with a view to “making a lasting contribution to the new evangelization of Europe, called for by Pope John Paul II and by the German bishops”, explains the document issued to present the event. The programme of the meeting will include not only workshops and debates, but also moments of prayer and penitential and eucharistic celebrations. The congress will be concluded on 16 May with a eucharistic celebration officiated by Cardinal Joachim Meisner and concelebrated by Cardinal Leo Scheffczyk.
