Austria: "Living Rosary" for Vienna” “

The so-called “living Rosary” will end in Vienna on Sunday, 16 May. Promoted as part of the Mitteleuropäischer Katholikentag (MEKT – congress of Central European Catholics) which will culminate with the “pilgrimage of peoples” to Mariazell on 22 May, the “living Rosary” is a weekly event in which, ever since 18 April, several hundred Catholics meet to pray the Rosary, going in procession to a different area of the Austrian capital each week. Each stage concludes with a Mass and a blessing to the city. On the occasion of the Rosary of 16 May, the final Mass will be celebrated by Msgr. Ludwig Schwarz, auxiliary bishop of Vienna. “On the road to the ‘pilgrimage of peoples’ to Mariazell we want to place a ‘Living Rosary’ round Vienna, to entrust Austria and our neighbouring countries to Christ, hope of Europe”, commented the Viennese priest Andreas Schätzle, who devised the idea. The living Rosary also took place with great success in 2003; in this case it was organized in preparation for the great city mission of Vienna.
