“The ethical and spiritual roots of our commitment to the societies of Europe”: that is the theme of the study assembly being promoted by the European Forum of the laity, due to be held at Fatima (Portugal) from 2 to 7 July. The theme will be discussed from various viewpoints, starting out from a reflection on “Gaudium et Spes”, considered the “fundamental inspiration of the commitment of the Catholic laity in European society”. There will also be a report on the Christian roots of Europe. The key words of the forum will also include “spirituality and solidarity”: “efforts will be made say the organizers to understand how best to promote the spiritual and ethical values in the new and old member countries of Europe, also through workshops on such questions as the preaching of the Gospel and ecumenism. The emphasis will be placed on the commitment of Christians in politics, both in small centres and in institutions of a regional character”. The discussions will be concluded by an address by the chairman of the European Forum of the laity on the challenges and needs of the National Committees of the Laity and the European Forum that brings them together. ———————————————————————————————————– Sir Europa (English) N.ro assoluto : 1309 N.ro relativo : 49 Data pubblicazione : 03/07/04
