Comece: studying the new Europe at university” “

The sixth “summer university” was held at Smolenice, close to Bratislava (Slovakia), from 11-14 September. This annual event, promoted by COMECE, is intended to bring together youth who work for and in collaboration with the European Church organization. This year – says COMECE in a press release – the meeting is the first to be held after EU enlargement and that’s why one of the new member countries was chosen as its venue. The meeting examined the question: “Integrated Europe. The various dimensions of the processes of European integration”. Flaminia Giovanelli of Justice and Peace in Rome proposed a series of philosophical and anthropological reflections on integration. Other speakers examined the situation of minorities in Eurrope and whether integration should be conceived as “melting pot or unity in diversity”.
