The sixth “summer university” was held at Smolenice, close to Bratislava (Slovakia), from 11-14 September. This annual event, promoted by COMECE, is intended to bring together youth who work for and in collaboration with the European Church organization. This year says COMECE in a press release the meeting is the first to be held after EU enlargement and that’s why one of the new member countries was chosen as its venue. The meeting examined the question: “Integrated Europe. The various dimensions of the processes of European integration”. Flaminia Giovanelli of Justice and Peace in Rome proposed a series of philosophical and anthropological reflections on integration. Other speakers examined the situation of minorities in Eurrope and whether integration should be conceived as “melting pot or unity in diversity”.
