82 European universities, 140 students (fellowship-holders) and 42 professors (fellowship-holders): they are the first beneficiaries of Erasmus Mundus, the new programme of the European Union aimed at reinforcing cooperation and international links in the field of higher education, through the support of high quality specialized degree courses and the mobility of students and professors throughout the world, both toward the EU and from the EU to the outside world. With a budget of 230 million Euros up till 2008, Erasmus Mundus has selected 19 postgraduate degree courses in 16 member countries (plus Norway), in the most varied disciplines: jurisprudence, economics, political sciences, teacher training, mathematics and the new technologies are among those most in demand.
