Monaco is to be the 46th member of the Council of Europe and it will be the heir to the throne, Albert of Monaco, in the name of the government and people of the Principality, to participate in the entry ceremony at the Council of Europe (Strasbourg). The assembly session of the CoE is scheduled for 4-8 October. The order of the day includes an urgent debate on the challenges of terrorism, as well as a discussion on the political and humanitarian situation in the Chechen Republic and on the respect of human rights there. The working of democratic institutions in Serbia and Montenegro and in Azerbaijan will also be discussed. Among the guests will be the Turkish prime minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, president of the Pan-African Parliament, Gertrude Mongella, and prince Albert himself.
