Italy: "ecumenical parish"” “

“Bringing the ecumenical spirit into the concrete life of the people of God”: that’s the objective set by the COP, Centre of Pastoral Guidance, in promoting a symposium in Anagni in Italy on “Parish: Community of ecumenical life. Experiences of ecumenism in the parish”. The speakers at the meeting included not only experts but also parish priests with significant ecumenical experiences in their own parish communities. “The parish – explain the promoters of the symposium – is being renewed in terms of missionary drive. But it is important that there be as great an opening as possible to the whole Christian religious experience. The steps being taken by ecumenism are still too small in response to the need for communion that is being increasingly felt today, also as a result of the migration of peoples and of the enlargement of the frontiers of Europe. Each parish today has within itself Christians of various confessions and each young student or workers passes periods of life in other nations where sister churches prevail or dialogue together with great serenity”.
