The diocese of Valencia has created the first diocesan commission for spirituality with the aim of “maintaining the faith in a secular environment”. The new commission was the brainchild of Archbishop Agustin Garcia-Gasco of Valencia, who will preside over it together with other experts. The objectives of the commission are to “increase the Christian spirit in all the environments in which people live and work, in the family and in society through the organization, throughout the year, of seminars, workshops, schools of prayer, and courses in biblical, theological and liturgical formation”. The commission also aims to diffuse as far as possible the practice of spiritual exercises and promote greater awareness of the offer of centres of spirituality on the diocesan territory.
