Italy: Milan to host Taizé youth” “

The 28th European meeting of the youth animated by the Taizé Community is to be held in Milan at the end of the year. The announcement was made by the archbishop of the Lombard city, Cardinal Dionigi Tettamanzi, speaking to the youth of his diocese during a prayer vigil held in the Cathedral on the evening before Palm Sunday. “I am delighted – said the archbishop – to announce to you this evening that, after Budapest, Paris and Lisbon, the 28th European youth meeting, promoted by the Taizé Community, will be held in Milan from 28 December 2005 to 1st January 2006. This will be a particularly significant moment of Christian witness in our city”. The archbishop went on to express his confidence that Milan would be able to welcome with “generosity” the young people who will arrive in the city from all over Europe, just as it did seven years ago. “In meeting, in dialogue, in prayer, in silence and in celebration – added the archbishop – we shall be able to return to the roots of our faith and reinvigorate it, so as to be genuine and contagious witnesses of it to so many other young people and to each man and woman we meet on our way”.
