In the view of the general secretary of the Greek Episcopal Conference, Msgr. Nikolaos Printezis, archbishop of Naxou-Tinou, the rapid election of Benedict XVI “is the confirmation of a convergence of the College of Cardinals and of the unity of the Church. The hope is he added that the new Pontiff may continue along the same path as John Paul II, protagonist of an historic visit to Greece, one of the frontiers of ecumenical dialogue”.
