“We recognize that the government has made progress in combating child poverty” but many problems still remain to be solved, says Caritas in the UK, as a member of “End Child Poverty”, which campaigns against child poverty and organized to this end a promotional event at Victoria Towers Gardens on 16 May. Sophie Linden, of “End Child Poverty”, pointed out that the organization had submitted to the government ten political proposals, which, “if implemented, would have an enormous impact on the life of 3.6 million children living in poverty in the UK”. “Now is the right time she says for the politicians of all parties to tell public opinion how they intend to combat child poverty and solve the problem once and for all”.
