The next European meeting of the National Centres for Vocations will be held at the major diocesan seminary of Banska Bystrica in Slovakia from 30 June to 3 July. The numerous delegates expected to attend the meeting from the various European Bishops’ Conferences will discuss the theme “Jesus in person approached them and walked with them: vocational accompaniment and decision”. Father Kevin Doran, co-operator of the European Vocation Service, the body headed by the Council of the Bishops’ Conferences of Europe (CCEE) which organized the meeting, will open the proceedings on the evening of 30 June. Various reports will be presented: the first will be “The Church and vocation in Slovakia” by Msgr. Tomas Galis, auxiliary bishop of the host diocese (1 July). This will be followed by “Listening to the spiritual and psychological concerns of youth in the journey of vocational discernment” by Father Terry Drainey, rector of Ushaw College (USA) and “Towards a responsible vocational decision” by the French Jesuit Father Bernard Mendiboure. Exchanges and testimonies on vocational accompaniment are also on the programme. A new printed bulletin and information on the next World Youth Day will be presented on Sunday, 3 July, the last day of the meeting. For further information: http://www.vocations.ie/evs.html
