Anglicans: dialogue with Orthodox and Baptists” “

The international Commission of Anglican-Orthodox theological dialogue met in the monastery of Kykkos, at Cyprus in early June. The Commission comprises representatives of the Anglican Communion and the Orthodox Churches. It began its work in 1973, exploring theological and doctrinal questions of mutual interest. Two accords have so far been signed: the first in Moscow in 1976, the second in Dublin in 1984. In this third phase of dialogue (begun in 1989), the Commission is examining the understanding of the Church in the light of faith in the Holy Trinity, in the person of Christ and in the Holy Spirit. In 2003, at a meeting in Addis Abeba, in Ethiopia, the Commission also began a study on the ministry of women and men in the Church. In its relations with the World Baptist Alliance, the Anglican Communion has just published a book, the result of five years of dialogue: the book – which will be presented in England on Friday 24 June – brings together a series of conversations on various themes of Christian faith. It describes the way in which the two denominations share the mission of being “witnesses of Christ in the world”.
