Albania and France: interfaith communion ” “

“Increasing dialogue and understanding of the various religions”: that is the recipe of the Daughters of Mary Auxiliatrix and the Salesians of Albania to “prevent religious syncretism among young Muslims, Orthodox and Catholics”. To achieve this objective, the essential prerequisites are to provide “as comprehensive and reliable information as possible, valid for everyone, headmasters, staff, teachers and pupils; and the search for and creation of opportunities for cooperation with the heads of the various communities and with the religious leaders who work among the young”. These activities are especially being developed for the children attending schools in Scutari and Tirana, in Albania. A similar project has also been developed in the Don Bosco secondary school in Landser and in the vocational training school at Wittenheim (Strasbourg) in France where “interculturalism is a daily process of living together and building together a future of peace”. This was the conclusion of the project on the theme of peace organized by the Salesians in the course of the school year that has just ended and recalled during a celebration for peace presided over by a Salesian Father, a Protestant pastor, a Muslim pupil and a Buddhist. During the interfaith service sacred texts of the various religions represented were read out.
