A motorcoach carrying youth from Belgrade, two other coaches from the diocese of Subotica, one from the Greek-Catholic Exarchate of Sriem and one from Montenegro: these will be the youth delegations (in total roughly 260) that will travel to Cologne for World Youth Day in August. They will represent the “International Bishops’ Conference of Saints Cyril and Methodius”, the new name assumed this year by the Bishops’ Conference of Serbia and Montenegro, following the link established with Macedonia. “We would have liked to have a larger number of youth at WYD explains Father Franx Shenk, secretary of Archbishop Stanislav Hocevar of Belgrade but difficulties and obstacles of various types, both economic and bureaucratic (in obtaining visas), have kept the numbers down. We hope that our country may soon enter Europe so as to alleviate these problems that have an impact on people’s lives”.
