“All the faithful of our Church must combine their efforts” to “complete the construction of the basilica of the Resurrection of Christ which is in the process of being built in Kiev”. That is the appeal made by Cardinal Lubomyr Husar in recent days to the “Greek-Catholics who reside in the territory of Ukraine, and also to our brethren throughout the world”, following the transfer of the see of the archbishop major of the Greek-Catholic Church from Lvov to Kiev. This event, writes Cardinal Husar, “has become a symbol of our union”, of which the basilica in the process of being built is the “visible expression”. “The basilica of the Resurrection of Christ must become in the near future the centre of the liturgical and spiritual life of our Church”, declared Husar, who also invited prayer to “invoke God’s blessing” on the venture.
