“We must never cease to learn”: with this motto the European Commission has decided to accompany the adoption of a new financial package of over 30 million euros to support transnational projects of cooperation in the sector of adult education. The funds reserved for the over 2500 public and private organizations devoted to adult education and training in Europe are added to the endowment of the Grundtvig action of the Socrates programme (17.5 million euros for the period 2005-2006). At a press conference, the European Commissioner responsible for education and training, Jan Figel, stressed that the Executive’s decision “reinforces the support being given throughout the EU to adults of every social condition to equip themselves with the necessary skills to respond to the challenges that await us”.
