For the fifth consecutive month the so-called “Business Climate Indicator” registered an improvement. Calculated on a monthly basis by the Commission with the aim of providing a clear and as prompt as possible an assessment of the cyclical situation of the economy in the Eurozone, the Business Climate Indicator is calculated by using opinion polls in the business world (questions relating to employment and retail prices are excluded). In particular, during October 2005, the managers and businessmen interviewed furnished some positive forecasts on the volume of exports, and expectations in terms of production and orders, thanks also to the recent guidelines of EU economic policy announced by Brussels.
