The traditional week of prayer and commemoration “Mechaye Hametim”, held in Vienna in recent days, was dedicated to the memory of the Nazi pogroms in November 1938. The high point of the week was an ecumenical celebration held in the Ruprechtskirche in Vienna on 9 November. The service was followed by a march to the Jewish memorial in the Judenplatz. Various lectures given by Catholic and Protestant Bible scholars, the projection of a film by Marc Rothemund, a meeting between Rudolf Burger, professor at the university of applied art in Vienna, and the theologian Father Tiemo Rainer Peters of the University of Münster were also on the programme.
