“You’re as many persons as the languages you know”: that’s the motto of the Communication on multi-lingualism, the first ever in the history of the Community, adopted by the College of Commissioners last week coinciding with the launch of a web portal accessible in all twenty official languages of the EU dedicated to languages and current and future European policies on them. The Commissioner for education, training and languages, Jan Figel, has announced for 2006 the organization of a ministerial Conference on multi-lingualism “to permit the member states to share the results obtained and plan work for the future”.
