Anglican Communion: New Year message ” “

The archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, in his New Year message, has urged people to do what they can to close the gaps between themselves and their neighbours. He said that trying to solve the large problems shouldn’t stop the little things being done: “We still have to look for the big solutions, the long-term aid and support, the problem-solving plans, but let’s start with what anyone can do, anywhere”. Williams recalled the tragedies that struck England and the world last year: from the terrorist attacks in London to the tsunami and the earthquake in Pakistan. Williams urged that we do all we can to “close the gap that so readily opens up between people” and to say to each other “I can’t promise to keep you safe, but I’ll do all I can to make sure that there’s someone with you in the worst moments”.
