The European championship of football for priests “Champions clerum” held in Zagreb, in Croatia, ended on 8 February with the victory of the host nation, followed by Poland and Bosnia. The championship saw the participation of teams representing twelve countries (including also Romania, Austria, Italy and Slovenia). Spain took sixth place in the classification, Hungary fifth, Portugal fourth, Bosnia third, Poland second, while Croatia emerged as the overall winner. The full-back of the Portuguese team of priests, Father Miguel Pereira, editor in chief of the Catholic daily “Diario do Minho”, commenting on the result, said he was “happy to have reached the semi-finals”.
