“The Church takes part in the mission of God in the world” and this mission “consists not just in reaching out to those that have not yet heard the God News, but also in bearing witness within society, including digital society”. That is the conviction of ECIC (European Christian Internet Conference), which is promoting its 11th meeting on “The challenge of convergence for the Church” in London (14-18 June 2006). The aim of the meeting, explain the organizers, is to “exchange experiences of working on the Internet” and “promote forms of cooperation in this field”. The executive committee of ECIC has issued a statement saying that the meeting will focus on the three themes of communion, education and mission, and will be addressed at “all those who play an active role on the web or are planning to do so”.
