Switzerland: "the image of the Other"” “

“Only knowledge and recognition of the Other lead, in the interfaith field, to a different perception of Judaism by Christians and of Christianityy by Jews”: this motivation inspired the Swiss Commission for Jewish-Catholic dialogue (SCJC) to publish, in recent days, a document with the title “The image of the Other”, the result of a reflection within the Commission itself and of a study day held in collaboration with the Maison Vassalle at Bad Schönbrunn (Zurich). In this pamphlet, published in German, French and Italian, “experts in biblical, Jewish, interfaith, philosophic and sociological science examine the image of the Other”. In an age that is once again having to come to terms with “the phenomena of anti-Semitism, racism and xenophobia” the Commission for dialogue is trying to “pursue the road of mutual respect and understanding of Judaism and Christianity”. The SCJC was established 15 years ago and brings together experts and persons engaged in Jewish-Christian dialogue, also through information on current affairs, debates and publications.
