Albania: bilingual Gospel of John

The project for a Gospel of John in a bilingual Albanian and Italian edition, aimed in particular at Albanians living abroad, especially in Italy, has been made possible thanks to collaboration between the Bible Society in Tirana and its counterpart in Rome, and the financial support of Italian Caritas. The main characteristic of this Bible edition is that the two language versions of the Gospel of John are printed side by side, for easy consultation. The project also represents a significant experience in ecumenism: the translation is the work of a team of translators representing different confessions, Johan Lena (Orthodox), Zefian Nikolla (Protestant), Marian Paloka and Etleva Shiroka (Catholics), coordinated by Bruna Ndoci. The project was inspired by Father Carlo Buzzetti, professor at the Pontifical Salesian University in Rome and consultant of the ABU (World Bible Alliance), who proposed its realization to the general secretaries of the Albanian and Italian Bible Societies, respectively Altin Hysi and Valdo Bartolot.
