The Slovene Church traditionally commemorates the day of ordination ( dies sanctificationis ) of its priests on the liturgical feast of Saints Peter and Paul on 29 June. This year, however, the commemoration was brought forward to 7 June, and celebrated not in the dioceses, but in the ancient Cistercian monastery of Sticna, where 700 priests (both diocesan and religious), together with their bishops, gathered for a retreat of prayer and reflection. The meditation was led by the preacher of the Pontifical Household Father Raniero Cantalamessa, who took his cue from the second chapter of the Acts of the Apostles, where the descent of the Holy Spirit, the birth of the Church and the proclamation of the Gospel are narrated.
