Bulgaria: Youth Festival at Belozem

“Hi to everyone, my name is Svetla and this year I’m taking part in the Christian International Youth Festival at Belozem, in Bulgaria, for the seventh time. Each year this festival seems to me to confirm the aphorism of Albert Einstein: ‘there are two ways of living: believing that miracles do not exist or believing that everything is a miracle. The miracles are all around us, but we don’t realise they’re there'”. Svetla’s testimony will introduce the 7th Christian International Youth Festival, to be held at Belozem from 21 to 26 August. “My God, my everything – Deus meus et omnia”: the motto of St. Francis has been chosen as this year’s theme of the meeting, four days punctuated by the Eucharist and group meetings in the morning coordinated by Father Rafal Sciemkoviak, by music, dance and photography workshops in the afternoon and by concerts in the amphitheatre of Belozem in the evening. The participation of a number of international artists is expected, including the Polish Trombi Ieriha, the Italian Roberto Bignoli, and the American Monika Orsino. The festival prize consists in recording a song in a professional studio and its inclusion on the CD “Compilation Belozem 2006”. “St. Francis, medieval poet and cantor of divine love – explain the festival organizers, the Capuchins of the church in Belozem named after the saint of Assisi – will this year lead the young to the discovery of the Gospel in their daily life”. All youth over the age of 14 can participate in the festival; each competitor can perform either solo or as a group. For further information and enrolments (by 20 July): festival@kapucini.netnone .
