“We think in particular today of our Christian brothers and sisters in the Holy Land and throughout the Middle East. We entrust to God the suffering and the grief of all the victims of the violence of war. We pray for peace and forgiveness, for the desire for concord and for respect for each and every human life”. This is the prayer intention that the bishops of Belgium, responding to Benedict XVI’s exhortation to pray in local churches for peace in the Holy Land and throughout the Middle East, have entrusted to parish priests and parish communities, inviting them to incorporate it in the Sunday celebrations on 22 and 23 July.
