To mark 11 September, the European Commission has published a document with the title “Commission activities in the fight against terrorism”, which in over ten pages lists in detail the Commission’s various measures from 2004 to the present day and legislative projects for the future. The document is divided into 7 chapters, respectively: prevention, capacity for reaction and response to terrorist acts; victims of terrorism; fight against financing of terrorism; police cooperation, exchange of data and information; judicial cooperation in the penal field; borders; and security research. In each chapter are cited in chronological order the communications and legislative acts adopted by the Commission and the decisions, provisions and other legislative proposals still in the pipeline. In the last part of the document the Executive formally calls on member states to “allow the adoption of instruments on which political agreement has been reached, subject to a parliamentary reserve”, to “ratify still outstanding Conventions and Protocols” and “transpose or correct errors in transposition of acts, the deadlines of which have already expired”.
