The 6th general assembly of the Communion of the Protestant Churches in Europe (Cepe) was held in Budapest in recent days. It elected Pastor Thomas Wipf as its executive president. The theme chosen for the meeting, which was attended by 120 delegates from 105 churches, was “Deepening communion – the Protestant profile in Europe”. The assembly also elected the thirteen members of the new council. “The meeting in Budapest – said the new President, Pastor Wipf – marks a stage in communion between the churches. Theological work and the reinforcement of cooperation between the churches in the various regions offer the Cepe an exceptional occasion to make itself known at a time when attempts are being made to promote the European unity to which we will contribute with the power of the Gospel.
