Over 1200 dossiers distributed in parishes; 32,000 prayer sheets distributed; over 2,500 contacts per month on the website www.vocations.ch: these are some of the figures of the two “years for vocations 2005-2006” due to end on 26 November. Promoted by the Swiss Bishops’ Conference and dedicated, respectively, to priests (2005) and to the baptized (2006), they “have represented – says a press release put out by the French-speaking Centre for Vocations (CRV), based in Lausanne, which has coordinated the event – the occasion for a new impetus in the ministry of vocations”. “Every ministry is a vocation”, says Abbot Dominique Rimaz, CRV coordinator and assistant coordinator of vocations in Europe, in the communiqué, emphasizing the importance attached also to vocations to the permanent diaconate, to religious life, to the Christian commitment of the laity, and to family life. To the family is dedicated the next European congress of vocations due to be held in Zara (Croatia) in June 2007.
